FareWell But Not For Forever

As the semester comes to an end, I ponder on what direction I want to take my blog in. As I sit back and reflect on the past few months I’ve realized that I’ve learned the most this last month. The more designers I spent time with, made me very eager to want more. Seeing my ideas come together on video, I got to capture special moments for my audience. This isn’t a goodbye, but more so a “see you later” for “SnatchedBySnook.” I want to expand my blog and I have an offer to write for a website based in Atlanta,Ga for the fashion section. I see great things for the new year and I will keep all my readers updated! As I stated in my previous blog, I will be focusing on Essence Douglas’s journey. Being a lash tech is a great investment for someone who’s into beauty and having a fun exciting career. I want to see her trials and tribulations as she goes through her new journey putting her business skills into play. I will update frequently for readers, prices, locations, new styles, and where local training will be.

Throughout this semester, I wanted to take my blog into a direction in which it would help me grow as a journalist and I could give viewers something meaningful. I decided to focus on local entrepreneurs who were just starting out in their craft. I wanted to capture the beginning while it was fresh in their hearts. It’s easy to google a name and find a biography but I wanted to get those insider answers.
For my final blog post, I interviewed Essence Douglas, a 26 year- old, LaSalle University student. She’s a business major with hopes of becoming a Lash Technician. After going back and forth for years trying to figure out her passion she changed her major from Education to Business. In the spring of 2016, she graduated with her associate’s degree in business at Gloucster County College. This was an exciting transition for Essence going to her top pick school (LaSalle). She didn’t want to just become a business manager but wanted to learn a new craft in a high competitive field. After much research on Instagram and Google she started to lean towards a Lash Technician.
While talking to Essence she told me how she enjoys wearing eye lashes and how the enhance her eyes so much. This is something she’s already good at so why not master it and get paid to do it.
To become a technician one has to take a course in which ranges from two – four days starting at 1,000 and up. You will learn how to apply semi- permanent lashes that are extended from the natural lash. They vary from very natural to very dramatic looking depending on customers request.

What to expect – They are made to mimic the real lashes, they are applied one by one to the natural lash by a certified technician. The process is up to three hours for the very first installment. During the procedure the customer gets to lay back and be pampered with their one custom eye lash look. There are over 600 different styles too choose from whether it’s the length, style, thickness, and even color there is something for every ones style.

The process – prior to start the tech will conduct a full consultation with the customer to help get ideas on their style. The stylist will also, important questions about health and lifestyles to see what’s right for you.
What are the benefits of lashes – Most women want full long natural lashes that will look fuller and enhance the eye. Lash extensions can make the face appear younger, brighter eye, and hides dark circles. But, most importantly it decreases the amount of time applying lashes every day.

I felt like this fit into my blog because I’m allowing viewers to witness the business from a person step by step process. I want readers to learn and take skills from what I post.

Eye Lash Technician Training – Nova Lash Next Class June 12, 2017 Philadelphia

Course starting at 1,000 includes certificate, training, full kit.

Lash Techs can work in Nail salons, Beauty bars, Hair salons, and their own establishment with a certification.

Eye Lashes will last up to two three weeks then a refill at a discounted price will bring them back looking new and bold.

RAPPING IT UP WITH NOFA$ADE

INTERVIEW BY DANIELLE HAYES

I got to kick it with a couple of cool suburban kids a rap group by the name of “NOFA$ADE“. I was invited to spend the day in the studio with them laying tracks while interviewing their manager Martin (Mar). Martin is a music manager with seven artists, five are a group and two in which are solo artist. Vito, Fresh, and the group.

The boys were so energized, this was their first interview I loved the energy in the room coming from all sides.

So tell me how did you get into the business of a music manager,

“I kind of fell into it, it started out with my best friend Vito he was a rapper. I didn’t want to be that friend that just hung around and didn’t do anything

Who in the business do you idolize,

Kayne West, his creativity, he’s a creative genus in my eyes and I would probably have to say Dame Dash. His passion just how he fought for everything. He was a manager and ran Roca fella Records. He was such a passionate person he was passionate about his tea, team first mentality. I would say those two creatively and their passion is what motivated me.

So besides the whole music thing what else do you get into?

Michel Rose, Sports Wear Blogger. Posing in his custom made track suit C.B.G

Earlier this week I sat down over the phone with Michel Rose, a young entrepreneur born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona.

Rose, a fitness coach, decided to start blogging his journey when he started a workout clothing line C.B.G. The blog is run by his two other friends Michel Turner and Lawrence Wood . The blog post about workouts, nutrition, and custom workout apparel. Speaking to him I got to witness behind the scenes of the gym life, the sweat blood and tears it takes, how passionate he is about achieving an affordable workout clothing line.

Living on the west coast, I got to experience an entire different stand point and scenery than my friends who live on the east coast.

“It was around 6 months ago I guess  I started blogging about fitness apparel and working out. I seen how expensive clothes were and I wanted something comfortable and stylish for myself and clients to workout in.”

The most interesting thing about his blog is that it’s connected to his Face Book account in which it allows more viewers to see it. It also, gives the viewers the opportunity to engage with him on Face Book Live, he stated he also gets to hear suggestions, and criticism first hand.

“I feel like the most challenging part about this blog is, uhm, maintaining updates about my apparel while still focusing on my craft.” I started C.B.C about 6 years ago, I started off as a coach at L.A

“The best advice I can give someone, about maintaining a successful blog is to give your supporters a platform to speak. Those who invest in your products are who help make the brand. So make them feel comfortable and have fast way to contact me. That shows great customer service.”

Sleek & Stylish Hairstyles By:Nelli

It’s so hard finding an affordable licensed hair stylist, that when you find one whose good you hold on to them. After seeing a Facebook share, I came across the hair page “Shear Perfections” and I took a look. The prices and hospitality definitely caught my attention so I decided to give them a call.

I spoke with a young lady but was a very versatile stylist by the name of Nelli I was very impressed. I traveled to her salon to get a look at what she does for a living. She said “Waking up everyday doing something you love isn’t just a job but a dream come true.”

Nelli started out styling hair at a very young age first practicing on her baby dolls at home. As she grew older her passion for hair grew and she started doing hair on her friends and family at home. Once she graduated high school she went on to become a student at Empire Beauty school to study Cosmetology from 2010-2011 at the age of 19 so young and ready to learn. After graduating and becoming a license hair stylist she is part owner of  “Shear Perfections.

Accomplishing her dreams at 25, Nelli decided to join the “Jolie School” to be a Cosmetology educator. After interviewing her I could feel her passion and how being an entrepreneur is her life. Anyone looking to get their hair done on a budget make an appointment at
